So I figure it's best to show my "pro tools" and let people figure out what works for them.

Then, when those artists get better I can steal from them and it's one big circle of getting better-at-art-badassedness :)

best,
mikeMike Hawthornehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13320163942600132518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36200623.post-36110812089749738122010-02-18T02:16:38.375-08:002010-02-18T02:16:38.375-08:00Thanks for posting all the steps. I've seen people post pencils-inks-colours many's a time, but its rare to include the development sketches for the head and such.

Great work too :DCiaran Lucashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10845078410253922597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36200623.post-61734905464510715922010-02-15T07:28:46.345-08:002010-02-15T07:28:46.345-08:00I went with the straight on shot because of scale....I went with the straight on shot because of scale. From the side, and below, you have the appearance of the hero being bigger then the threat he faced. I wanted the opposite.

Thanks man!Mike Hawthornehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13320163942600132518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36200623.post-53671312941878690152010-02-15T07:20:50.924-08:002010-02-15T07:20:50.924-08:00Interesting to see you shift away from the lower, ...Interesting to see you shift away from the lower, side camera angle shot to the straight on view of the GI Robot character. With the last two, you've been pushing the camera angles (Torpedo and Rocketeer). Not that it was bad by any means, just interesting that you moved away from that great angle shot in the 7th scan.PatrickWedgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03041782527066455082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36200623.post-77375821091732398582010-02-15T07:00:10.034-08:002010-02-15T07:00:10.034-08:00Thanks, Steve! There are some serious inking techniques going on in the finish. I particularly dig the work on the T-rex's skin and G I Robot's uniform.
