Killer Croc part 2

Picking away at this sketch, 15 minutes at a pop. Too busy to just finish it all at once. These Deadpool pages ain't gonna draw themselves, after all!

Killer Croc

No time to do a proper warm up, too much Deadpool to do, so sorta picking away at a sketch here & there.

Deadpool 22 & Action Comics 27 process post!

If you ventured into a comic shop today you may have noticed not one but TWO comics with my name on it. Deadpool #22 & Action Comics #27.

In keeping with the tradition of posting a pencil-to-ink comparison for my process junky brethren, here is a big, fat stack of pages from both Deadpool and Superman.

So, if you look closely at the pencil pages for Superman you'll noticed I tried out a pre-printed perspective grid for some of it. I heard of them from various friends over the years, and dug a few up to try out. I thought it would speed things up a bit, as I tend to spend a lot of time layout out the perspective on my pages, but I found that it really didn't save as much time as I would have liked.

I also think they're a little restricting. If you compare the perspective here to the perspective on the Deadpool pages below (where I did NOT use the pre-printed grid) you'll see that those pages just feel more dynamic.

In the end I think the grids can be a good tool, but don't take the place of just knowing how to draw in linear perspective and certainly does not allow for the freedom of doing it from scratch.

Don't say I never gave you nothin'!

Mike

DC released this finished teaser page from my upcoming issue of Action Comics, for the big villain's month event so I thought I'd share the pencils and inks too.

Action Comics!

Hey everyone,

So, if you saw my last post, you know the news. I'm drawing an issue of Action Comics for DC's upcoming Villains event! We're focusing on Cyborg Superman, with some cool twists to his back story.

I'm working with writer Supergirl writer Michael Alan Nelson and the the script is fantastic. There is a tremendous amount of drama and pathos in this issue, and plenty of action.

You can ask your local comic shop to pre-order the issue now, which I believe will be in stores the first week or September.

Enjoy some sneak peeks :-)

Best,
Mike

PS -  For those wondering, this is not affecting my work on Deadpool. In fact, I handed in issue 21 of Deadpool before starting on Action Comics. Also, Declan Shalvey is drawing the current arc (which you should check out!) So no worries.

Return of Comic Twart! Part DOS!

Hey everyone!

It's week two of Comic Twart's DC comics event, and here's my second piece. "Sisters In Ass Kickery"! Kinda poetic, aint it?

Anyway, enjoy!

Seriously, I can't think of one problem these three ladies couldn't solve ;-)

Best,
Mike

Here's the first DC event piece I did.
