Drawing for fun - HELLBOY!! pt. III

Hey all!

I finished the pencils for that Hellboy piece I was working on. If work allows I'll get to inking it, and will post the work in progress.

Best,
Mike

OK, I’m going to be a nitpicky a-hole here and say I would have liked to have seen some sort of amulet in the rope on his finger. Mostly because that would fit the character when Hellboy fights, he’s always looking for this artifact that someone gave him that aids him in a fight with a demon. Granted, the ravaged scene behind him could indicate the amulet worked.

Still, you’re rocking on this. Love the sneer.

hey Patrick,

Ok, I'm gonna be nit picky right back :)

I started this piece over the summer while in Greece, so i decided to set this scene there. It's not a specific ruin, kind of an amalgamation of the Olympic Temple of Zeus and the Parthenon. The knocked over pillars are not from some fight, that's how they actually are at the Temple of Zeus.

There is also a ledge at both sites where you could stand on a wall and look down at the city of Athens - which is what Hellboy is doing here.

What he has on his finger is a Koboloy (I'm butchering the spelling, sorry to any Greeks out there). Also known as "Greek worry beads". They come in all kinds of styles, and colors, but I kinda goofed here as there should be a second bead/string at the end and some slack where the string is exposed.

In a prefect world I'd love to do write/draw a Hellboy story with him battling some old world bad guys in Greece.

So, there you go. Hope that clears it up for everyone.

Oh sure, you have to go and get all technical and real on me. Sure, I guess if you want to use logic when you are talking about Hellboy and Greece and all this other stuff. If you're so smart why don't you get that story written down on paper and talk to those Dark Horse guys about getting this into a story you wild ass mother.....

Umm, Hi, this is sanity talking now. Patrick is a little miffed because your explaination sounded cool and made sense.

Although the fact you had a full story in mind when you drew one shot was cool and worth expanding.

Thanks for the background. Still a cool ass picture.
