Fear Agent pencil & ink comparison Pt. V

Hey everyone,

Ok, last of those pencil to ink comparisons (courtesy of inker John Lucas).

Hope you enjoyed seeing these as much as I did. Can't wait to see Tony rock these!

Previous post.

best,
Mike

So a couple things:

1. Was the intent to move from straight panel borders to the more hectic, jagged panel borders in indicate the fast pace action?

2. The shading on some of the panels and objects seem a little more hatch style than normal. Maybe that is just a different style to your more slick approach. Like panels 2 and 4. Far from me saying I could come close to that but I was just wondering if it altered your approach to pencilling knowing that was how it was going to be inked?

1. I think Lucas is inking the borders that way because it's traditionally how Tony does it.

2. I've been hatching more just cause I dig it, and I have more time for these pages. I usually pencil and ink my stuff, so not having to ink these has allowed me more time to love the pencils up.

Not that I have a LOT of time for these, because I don't. I just have more time then I did when I was penciling and inking the Un-men every month (as an example).

Oh, by no means do I think it looks poor on the hatching. I think I've said before, with the story that Fear Agent delievers, the style is appropriate. It is wild and hectic and the art matches it.

Just a different "take" on your pencils so hard to judge when usually it is all you in the art. Sure if you handed it to another inker, they'd put out a different page as well.
